Quest 4 the Outdoorsman in Siskiyou

If you’re a thrill-seeker looking for an adventurous getaway, look no further than Siskiyou! With a wide range of activities, Siskiyou is an outdoor enthusiast’s playground. Pack your outdoor gear and explore some our favorite outdoorsman activities with this itinerary.

Reel ‘Em In 

Cast a line in one of Siskiyou’s lakes or rivers and you’ll likely get a fresh catch at any one of the area’s fishing spots, making dinner a no-brainer! Journey on over to Kangaroo Lake, a reservoir located just 14.3 miles from Weed. The lake is a great spot for fly fishing and bait casting. You’re sure to get a bite on the line here!

Cast Away

At Lake Siskiyou, fishermen will find a variety of fish including lake trout, brook trout, smallmouth bass, rainbow trout and brown trout. Head on over to Castle Lake, just 6 miles from Dunsmuir for some of the best fly fishing around. The Klamath River is the place to go for salmon fishing with fall salmon runs starting in August. Grab your bait, fishing pole and fishing license to reel in a fresh catch!

Rise ‘N Shine It’s Huntin’ Time

Siskiyou’s majestic terrain is home to a wide variety of huntable game. You’re sure to track some of the best species around in Siskiyou. Make your way to the Shasta Valley Wildlife Area and you’ll find 4,700 acres of landscape where you can hunt waterfowl, quail and pheasants. At Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex there is nearly 40,000 acres of open water and croplands where you can hunt deer, waterfowl or pheasants. At Butte Valley Wildlife Area, you’ll have 13,400 acres of wetlands, sage flats and farmlands to hunt waterfowl.

Rack ‘Em Up

In certain zones throughout Siskiyou, you can also hunt big game species including black bears and deer. Some of the more popular areas we suggest exploring include Black Mountain, Camp Creek and Dorris Hill. Just remember, each region has specific hunting regulations, you learn more here.
