World class fishing is at its best in Siskiyou, with dozens of crystal clear lakes, roaring rivers and wild streams, the area is Northern California’s premier fishing destination. Grab your bait, rig your line and discover some of our favorite fishing spots.

Cast into a Majestic Lake    

Cast a line in one of Siskiyou’s majestic lakes and bring home a fresh catch! At Lake Siskiyou, you’ll find a variety of fish including lake trout, brook trout, smallmouth bass, rainbow trout and brown trout. The lake also has several amenities on-site including boat rentals, ramps, marinas and bait.

Fish in the Heart of the Wilderness

Forest fishing east of Siskiyou is often a hotspot for fisherman. Head to the Klamath National Forest and you’ll find three great locations for fishing and camping including Juanita Lake, Orr Lake and Butte Creek, all typically full of trout, catfish and bass. Off the beaten path is Medicine Lake, another great spot for rainbow and trout fishing with gorgeous views.

Fly Fish the Peaceful Backcountry

Looking for something more secluded? Head over to Castle Lake, a hidden gem just west of Mount Shasta. The glacial lake offers one of the best fly fishing spots in Siskiyou. Here, you’ll find gold shiners, brook and rainbow trout.

Discover Siskiyou’s Fishing Hotspots

For an adventurous fishing day, head to Upper Sacramento River where you’ll find freestone fishing at its best. In west Siskiyou, the Klamath River is a hidden fly fishing treasure with steelhead and trout year-round. Another fishing hotspot is over at Kangaroo Lake where your chances of getting a bite are good!

Experience the great outdoors of Siskiyou at the McCloud River. Here you can camp, hike, fish and enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the river. You’ll also find rare bull trout here, the only place in California it’s located! Just remember to follow local fishing regulations and get a California Fishing License. Fish on!
