Saddle Up for Siskiyou’s Fairs and Rodeos

 

Giddy Up Partner! Along with the epic mountains and forests, Siskiyou’s landscape is blanketed with multi-generational ranches of grazing cattle and other livestock. This cowboy lifestyle threads itself into the fabric of Siskiyou’s local culture and that means that Rodeo and Fair season are a big deal here. Grab your boots and hat and join us for some good ol’ Western fun!

Siskiyou Golden Fair

The largest and longest running event in all of Siskiyou is the annual Golden Fair in Yreka. Thousands gather each August for 5 action packed days of livestock exhibitions, carnival rides, rodeo shootout, petting zoo, pony rides, delicious food, nightly live music, and more! This year’s theme is “Country Fair with a Golden Flare” and is sure to impress and dazzle folks of all ages!

Etna Rodeo

The charming Scott Valley town of Etna hosts two annual rodeos at the Scott Valley Pleasure Park. The Ranch Rodeo just celebrated their 76th annual event in May and the Old Timer’s Rodeo is held each July. The May weekend kicks off with a parade down Main Street, and presentation of the year’s Rodeo Royalty. After the dust from all of the thrilling rodeo action settles, the arena transforms itself into a concert venue and a live country band serenading dancers into the sunset. From bull riding to barrel racing, roping, and more, there is plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seats!

Jefferson State Stampede

Get a real taste of true Siskiyou country in Montague at the Jefferson State stampede. This two-day rodeo comes to the Montague Rodeo Grounds every August and features fearless cowboys and cowgirls competing in events like heart-pounding bull riding, and lightning-fast barrel racing. Whether you’re a seasoned rodeo enthusiast or just looking for some good old-fashioned fun, this weekend has something for everyone. There will also be live country music, a bar, food vendors, to keep you entertained throughout the action-packed weekend.

Tulelake -Butte Valley Fair

Head east for the 73rd annual Tulelake – Butte Valley Fair where they say, “The Countryside meets the Carnival.” This fair is held September 5-8th and is packed with fun for all ages. Along with fair favorites like livestock, vendors, parade, carnival rides, exhibits, this year has nightly live music in the grandstand from Nashville recording artist Travis Denning and “One of these Nights” the songs of the Eagles tribute band. Top it all off with a destruction derby, this is a weekend not to miss.
