Box Canyon, is an easy 1.5 mile trail with lots to offer and close to the Sacramento River. It offers many vistas down into the canyon, it is a nice relaxing trail perfect for a stroll, and the trail brings a lot of historical artifacts with it like an old car and appliance graveyard where the aforementioned items dated back to the 30s are kept along the trail. The Box Canyon Trail has a spur that offers a decent to the very bottom of the canyon near the river.

Route Type: Out & Back

Directions: From the town of Mt. Shasta, head west on W. Lake, crossing over I-5. At the stop sign, turn left onto Old Stage Road. After 0.25 miles, veer right onto WA Barr Road. Continue south, turning right into the parking lot just before crossing over the dam that impounds the Sacramento River and forms Lake Siskiyou. Walk across the street and look for the sign hanging from a tree, marking the beginning of the Box Canyon Trail.
