Karuk Tribe People’s Center Museum
The Mission of the Karuk Tribe People’s Center Museum & Gift Shop: As the Museum and Cultural Center of the Karuk Tribe, the People’s Center Museum & Gift Shop is devoted to the preservation, promotion and celebration of Karuk history, language, traditions and living culture.
Opened in September 2002, the Karuk People’s Center is a 5,000 square foot facility that includes an exhibition gallery, a gift shop, a Basketweaving classroom, a library, a collection’s storage area and the Karuk Language Program Office.
Basket Classes are held in the Basketweaving Classroom every Sunday from 12:00 to 3:00 pm and are led by master Karuk basket weaver, Wilverna Reece. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own material for weaving.
Hours: Monday – Saturday, 9:30am – 5pm (closed for lunch from 1pm – 1:30pm)
