Mount Shasta Escapes departs Friday, August 21st with pickups in Sacramento, Chico, and Redding — board a luxury motorcoach bound for the mountain and let the road north do the rest.

Saturday begins on the mountain itself. Dan Horton of Shasta Vortex Adventures and Andrew Oser of Mount Shasta Retreats lead the group to sacred sites and vortex journeys — hidden springs, old-growth forest, and quiet meadows — weaving in guided meditation along the way and taking you to powerful spots few visitors ever find. Sunday closes with a rare treat: a two-hour talk with William “Bill” Miesse, widely regarded as the world’s foremost Mount Shasta scholar. Miesse traces the legend of Lemuria and shares the legends and lore of Castle Crags right in the shadow of the granite spires, on the very ground where the history happened.

Picture it: your tent, sleeping pad, and camp chairs already pitched and waiting, Mount Shasta mirrored in the still lake water just steps from your door. Rent a kayak, paddleboard, or a pontoon boat for the afternoon, swim off the sandy beach, or wander the lakeside loop trail. As evening falls, there’s live music, dinner and drinks at the lakeside restaurant and bar, and an 8pm movie under the pines at the Bijou Theater — the kind of easy, all-set-up lakeside weekend you’d normally have to earn after a long day of packing.
