Accent on Art in August
• What is more fun than beating the heat in Dunsmuir? Brushing elbows with artists and cool people at the Siskiyou Artists Association 66th Annual Members’ Show at Siskiyou Arts Museum 5824 Dunsmuir Ave Dunsmuir August 10-October 5, opening reception August 10 4-7pm.
• What makes this show special? Its SAA members draw from the entire county and represent Siskiyou’s regional differences and similarities. Exhibiting members are expert in their media, whether it is Acrylic, Drawing, Mixed Media, Oil, Pastel, Printmaking, Sculpture, or Water Media.
Scholarship Fundraiser The popular silent auction this year to raise money for their scholarship program will run from August 10 to October 5, providing opportunities for art lovers to purchase an Art Work by one of their favorite local artists.
Critique Artist for 2024: Carol Jenkins
Carol Jenkins, the critique artist, will provide a critique for each piece in the show, and all artists will be provided with a copy. She transitioned from a successful psychotherapy practice to a full-time art career later in life and has been painting for over fifteen years. Her work has been collected nationally and shown in galleries along the West Coast and in New Mexico. She writes a monthly blog about creativity and has had her paintings published in several collections, including Artists of the Bay Area and Wild Lands, by Jen Tough Gallery. Her work has been shown at Liberty Arts Gallery in Yreka, and more about her can be found on her website https://caroljenkinsart.com. Carol maintains studios in the Bay Area as well as Mt. Shasta, California, where she is surrounded by the wilderness that inspires much of her work.
