Liberty Arts Exhibition: Mixed Terrain Reception

Two accomplished local artists, Stan Sours and Anne McTavish, feature an exhibition of individual and collaborative works, Mixed Terrain, opening February 27th at the Liberty Arts gallery in Yreka.
Stan Sour’s sculptural assemblages and wall-sculptures reflect the allegorical nature of his work, a personal story from “the journey of life”, with human and animal figures conveying his concerns. His “frames may create a support for the images, but don’t contain them.”
Ann McTavish, early-inspired by artists such as Thibaud, O’Keeffe and Hopper, now explores the manipulation of paint by artists such as Gerhard Richter, and using various tools to achieve it. Recently she has been motivated by aerial photography, hoping “to translate its drama into the medium of paint.”
Both artists have worked on several collaborative pieces that are featured in this show. Join us at the Opening Reception, Friday February 27th 5-7pm, Liberty Arts Gallery 108, W. Miner St. Yreka. Show ends March 27th. Gallery Hours 10am-4pm, Wed thru Sat.
