Good Eats in Yreka, CA

Yreka has many options for a great meal. If you’re traveling through town on spring break, I hope you’ll visit my favorite Yreka restaurants and cafes.

RESTAURANTS

Strings Italian Cafe

If you’re in the mood for carbohydrates, Strings is the place to patronize. The main course usually comes with your choice of salad or soup, and there is always a big basket of bread on the table. It’s easy to fill up on bread and salad, so leave a little room in your tummy for the main dish.

I’m a fan of Strings’ spinach ravioli and the traditional Italian spaghetti. The “Pasta Siena” is the most popular dish at the restaurant, and it’s savory and delicious. Also, my husband reminded me that Strings serves a fantastic steak that pairs well with a glass of red wine.

Mexican Cuisine

I love dining at Casa Ramos and Puerto Vallarta. Since I’m a creature of habit, I typically order the “Mexican City Tacos.” Casa Ramos has a fun vibe, and it’s a great place to watch sporting events. However, Casa Ramos tends to be loud, so if you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy tacos—and other yummy eats—Puerto Vallarta is a lovely alternative.

Natalee Thai Cuisine

When we lived in Yreka, I ate at Natalee Thai a few times a month. The servers always remembered my favorite dishes. Over the years, I consumed countless plates of Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao at Natalee Thai. I also love the Thai Iced Tea because it is sweet and packed with caffeine.

The Wine Bar & Bistro is a fun local haunt. They serve excellent wine and heavy appetizer dishes, too. It’s a great place to meet locals, listen to live music and enjoy a glass of wine before you have a more substantial meal.

DINERS & CAFES

Nature’s Kitchen serves breakfast and lunch, and it’s one of my favorite cafes to meet friends for a meal. I like their grilled cheese sandwich and savory avocado salad. They also make giant cookies and other sweet treats. After breakfast or lunch, explore the adjoining store. You’ll find herbal supplements, coffee, crazy socks, books, and more.

The Black Bear Diner is famous for giant plates of food, and I always enjoy their vegetarian omelet and cinnamon roll. Other pastries, like the enormous Bear Claw, is yummy.

Zephyr Books & Coffee is a welcoming cafe to enjoy a cup of locally roasted Northbound Coffee, a treat, or a breakfast burrito. While you’re at Zephyr, explore their selection of used books, locally made cards, and more.
