5 Places You’ve Got to Be for an Epic Siskiyou Summer

Summer holds all kinds of epic possibilities in Siskiyou. Nestled at the foot of Mt. Shasta, there are awesome festivals to explore, forested trails to hike, winding rivers to forge, and massive cliffs to climb. Read on for our picks:

McCloud Mushroom Festival | May 27-28 

On Memorial Day Weekend, you’ll find the McCloud Mushroom, Music, and Wine Festival going in full force. Head in for wild mushroom hunting with the “King of the Mushrooms,” Todd Spanier, live music, and nearly 100 artisan, craft, and food vendors.  

They even have mushroom workshops you can sign up for including The Natural Pigments from CA Fungi with Elissa Callen where you get to paint a watercolor with mushroom-made pigments. Or check out Angelic Garza’s workshop on The Preservation and Use of Medicinal Mushrooms. 

Gold Rush Days | June 10-11 

Rush on into historic Yreka County for Gold Rush Days. This two-day event lets you walk in the glory of the town’s rich history with a big celebration including food vendors, live music, mechanical bull rides, historic carriage tours, and lots more. 

Railroad Days | June 16-18 

Dunsmuir Railroad Days is a huge celebration of the town’s grand railroad history. It’s three days of great fun, including a parade, live music, food vendors, craft booths, a little engineer contest, and so much more. 

Ascension Music Festival | July 28-30 

Held right at the base of Mt Shasta at the Mt Shasta Ski Park, the Ascension Music Festival is your chance to hear all the hottest bands in Northern California at one of the most scenic venues in the state. There’s on-site camping, an arts & crafts fair, craft beer breweries, food and drink vendors, and a vintage car show too. 

Trails End Music Festival | Aug 4-5 

Set in Etna, the Trails End Music Festival has that laid-back, great-music kind of feel. There’ll be lots of craft breweries, food vendors, and more in this beautiful town located at the foot of the Marble Mountain Wilderness.
