Siskiyou presents an array of distinctive dining experiences set against breathtaking landscapes. Why not indulge in both and embark on a culinary adventure across the region? Uncover hidden gems and savor local flavors as you explore the stunning beauty of California’s North at your own pace. Let each meal be a new discovery on this unforgettable food-filled journey through Siskiyou.

North Siskiyou

Breakfast: Did you know that the first Black Bear Diner location was right in Siskiyou? The Mount Shasta and Yreka Locations are still two of the most popular dining spots in the region. With an extensive all-day breakfast menu packed with comfort classics, bottomless hot coffee and fresh squeezed OJ, this is the perfect place to start your day in North Siskiyou.

Lunch: Can we say Award Winning Grilled Cheese?? Bella Art Works Creative Cafe in Yreka is an ice cream shop, ceramic painting studio and cafe’ all in one! The retro soda fountain vibes are nostalgic, and the Grown-Up Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are made to order and oh so good! This place is a great spot for a satisfying lunch, a sweet treat, and to stretch your creativity with a take-home project you create yourself.

Dinner: The Mai Yaj Asian Bistro has made a name for themselves ever since they opened in Montague. They serve up authentic Southeast Asian comfort food specializing in Hmong, Thai, Lao and Vietnamese food. Their dishes are fresh, unique and delicious. Bring an appetite and bring a friend because you can’t come here and order just one thing!

Bonus: Schedule a stop at Yreka’s Wine Bar & Bistro for a night cap and an indulgent appetizer. The Wine Bar has an excellent selection of wines, beers on tap and small plates to share. A great way to decompress and reflect on an adventurous day in Siskiyou.

South Siskiyou

Breakfast: Grab a filling egg sandwich or breakfast burrito at Yak’s Shack in Mt Shasta. This funky spot is the sister to Yak’s on the 5 in Dunsmuir and has Yak’s Sweet Shop with fro-yo and other goodies right next door. They also make epic fruit smoothies and espresso drinks to get your day off to a good start.

Lunch: Pipeline Craft Taps in Mt Shasta always knocks it out of the park with their creative salads, bowls, burgers, and sandwiches. A fan favorite is the Seared Ahi Tuna Bowl, packed with lots of crunch and just the right amount of kick. Wash it down with one of their many craft taps or a glass from their stellar wine selection.

Dinner: Sage Restaurant located in the McCloud Hotel, offers a great atmosphere and dishes up creative farm-to-table seasonal menus with an American and French flare. The fresh herbs and vegetables come right from the hotel’s garden and many of the meats and fishes are also locally sourced. A delightful dining experience in historic and charming McCloud! Bonus: Grabbing a handmade milkshake or root beer float at Floyd’s Frosty in Dunsmuir is like stepping back in time and the perfect sweet treat after a day exploring the outdoors.

East Siskiyou

Breakfast: At first, El Ranchito in Dorris seems like a no-frills taco spot, but they have got it going on! For breakfast, they make a variety of huevos dishes, breakfast burritos, Chile Rellenos and homemade Horchata. This popular place to get a breakfast along the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway opens bright and early at 6:30am!

Lunch: Lulu’s Main Street Cafe in Tulelake is a new addition to East Siskiyou. They focus on hand crafted, fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Grab a juicy burger with some hand cut fries, and their coffee is always free! (images: Facebook)

Dinner: A welcoming stop after a day of exploring caves at Lava Beds National Monument is Mike and Wanda’s in Tulelake. This family-run diner-style spot is worth a stop in a town that is famous for being relatively unknown. We recommend trying the Prime Rib on Friday nights or any of the burgers.

Bonus: If you haven’t had enough authentic Mexican food yet in East Siskiyou, try some tacos at El Tio Chuy. Known for their delicious meats and seafood dishes you can’t go wrong.

West Siskiyou

Breakfast: Maria’s Mexican Restaurant is a cozy family eatery in the quaint Scott Valley town of Fort Jones. They have some awesome Mexican and American breakfast options and are open at 7am Mon-Sat! A perfect start to a day exploring the Marble Mountains or swimming at Jones Beach!

Lunch: Dotty’s in Etna is a road-side diner serving up great local burgers, creative chicken sandwiches, hotdogs, ice cream and more. Located right at the edge of town, near the Etna Farmer’s Market. Their special Tri-tip sandwich is out of this world! (image: Facebook)

Dinner: Enjoy any of the weekly specials or wood-fired pizzas at Denny Bar Co. & Distillery in downtown Etna. They bring a creative flair to some classic dishes. Make sure to wash it down with one of their scratch cocktails within view of the stills where they create their own line of craft spirits. You can even take a tour of the distillery and end the evening in the tasting room!

Bonus: Grab an award-winning craft beer at Etna Brewing Company, which has been a name here since 1872. On weekends they have live music on the covered outdoor patio.
