Snow has been falling, and the countdown to winter ski season is officially ON. Here are some snow-filled adventures that are sure to pack your trip with epic adventure!
1. Plan Your Trip for Mid-Week
Not only are weekdays less crowded at the park, you’ll save a little cash, too – ticket prices at the Mt. Shasta Ski Park are cheaper on non-weekend days. Additionally, starting opening day, tickets purchased more than 30 days in advance receive 10% off. Click here to purchase season passes and lift tickets.
2. Book Your Lodging in Advance

Tip: if you’re looking for something close to the ski park, look for options in McCloud, Dunsmuir, Mount Shasta, and Weed.
3. Prepare for Winter Driving Conditions
Take the time now to make sure there’s good tread on your tires and that your wiper blades are in good condition. Right before your trip, make sure to check the local weather report, and plan to carry chains – even vehicles with 4 wheel drive are required to carry them during snow storms (and you can always return them if you don’t wind up using them!). Remember, 4 wheel drive does not make you invincible. Drive cautiously and never pass snow plows.

4. Plan a Few Non-Slope Adventures
At some point, you’ll probably want to take a break from the slopes. A few ideas to get you started:

5. Get Your Gear Ready
Even if you don’t plan to hit the slopes, make sure you have a warm coat, beanie or hat, gloves, and shoes with good tread. Get your skis tuned up, sharpened and waxed, or make it easy on yourself and rent top-notch equipment once you’re here. Try everything on in advance to ensure it still fits properly and comfortably! If you forget something, you can always hit one of our local shops for your winter recreation needs.
